Free Music, Thanks to Web2.0!

The power of recommendation arrives on the music scene.  The community-minded folks at Amie Street have schemed a device that distributes music on different terms.  Meaning, you can 'stick it to The Man'.

As an artist, signed or otherwise, you can upload your musical artwork into the Aime Street system, where it is available for FREE purchase and download by the rest of the community (joining the community is also free, by the way).  The price of your song will rise depending on how much the community likes it - how many times it's purchased.  The maximum price a song will rise to is $0.98, which is still a steal . . . we're talking about DRM free music that plays on any device. 

And for the musicians who can only play the CD player, there are numerous benefits.  You can find great new independent songs for free or cheap, and even earn money towards music by finding great songs and recommending them to your friends.  From the website:

"Our pricing model encourages music lovers to discover and buy new music. If a song is free, it hasn’t been discovered by a wider audience. If a song is 98 cents, it’s already a must-hear hit. Recommend the great new songs you find to your friends and earn credit for buying even more great music !"

Go start your account now.  I've been using it for a week now and love it.  The idea is beautiful, the intuitive web interface is a breeze to navigate and understand, and I've discovered some amazing songs that cost me a fat  $0.33!

Audiophile Montage

Because text searches are so linear (ie: limited, old-world) here's a post-modern collage.  What you're looking at is a visual representation of a Google image search for the term, "Audiophile".

I didn't count, but at a glance it seems there are more cable images than speakers . . .

I would like to see demographics of people who use this service, I wouldn't be surprised to find a large segment also secretively played Tetris on the their video game watches during school; I can't be the only one.

Audio Cables: The Squidoo Lens

I'd like to point you towards a new lens I have *started* on www.squidoo.com. If you're not familiar with Squidoo.com, it's a search engine . . . but different. You can search any topic, but instead of normal results, you'll find "lenses", which are like mini-sites that individuals have compiled on the topic you're searching for. It can be MUCH more helpful than a million Google results, especially if you're hoping to learn something.

High-end audio cables can be a confusing topic, and I'd like to shed light for anyone who's searching for insight on the issue. And the answer doesn't always have to be "Virtual Dynamics"! (I don't recommend our products for jogging with your iPod . . . :)

Please take a look at the lens, you'll be able to see the direction I want to take it, keep in mind I am just starting this project. I'd love to hear your insight; what information and questions would be helpful to find?
